YouTube Shorts analyzer — see exactly why a Short went viral

By Michael, Founder, FYPNow · Updated 2026-09-25

YouTube Studio tells you a Short got 300,000 views and roughly when viewers swiped away. It does not tell you what the first two seconds said, where the scenes cut, or why this Short took off when the last five did not. Paste any YouTube Shorts link into FYPNow and it gets the same breakdown as a TikTok: the hook type and the exact words used, scene-by-scene timing, content DNA, a sentence-level transcript, and the specific factors that made it work. The Shorts that are overperforming in your niche now sit on the same viral wall as the TikToks, ranked by the same multiplier, so one research habit covers both platforms.

See it on a real video

Paste any TikTok or YouTube Short and we'll run the full breakdown on it as soon as your trial starts — hook timing, scene structure, transcript and why it worked.

What this replaces

  • •YouTube Studio only explains your own channel, and even there it gives you viewed vs. swiped away, average percentage viewed and a retention curve rather than what in the video caused the drop.
  • •Repurposing a TikTok to Shorts is guesswork when nobody can say which part of the hook actually carried it.
  • •Researching Shorts usually means scrolling the Shorts feed and studying whatever the algorithm decided to show you.
  • •A Short with a million views from a channel with ten million subscribers is not a signal, and view counts alone cannot tell the two apart.

How it works

  1. 1Paste a YouTube Shorts link: youtube.com/shorts/…, a youtube.com/watch link, or a youtu.be short link all work.
  2. 2The Short runs through the same multimodal AI as a TikTok, reading the footage and audio rather than the title and view count.
  3. 3You get the hook classified by type and quoted verbatim, scene boundaries with timings, pacing and energy, presenter and production signals, and a timestamped transcript.
  4. 4Virality factors name what carried the Short, and improvement suggestions name what would have carried it further.
  5. 5To find Shorts worth analyzing, open Viral Trends → Niches and filter the wall to Shorts, or leave it on Mixed to compare both platforms side by side.

What you get

The full breakdown on any public Short: hook type and exact hook text, scene timing, content DNA and a sentence-level transcript
Virality factors and specific improvement suggestions per Short
Viral Shorts on the niche and agent walls alongside TikToks, with a TikTok / Shorts / Mixed filter and a platform badge on every card
Multiplier ranking for Shorts too — views against the channel's subscribers — so a small channel's outlier surfaces first
"Why it went viral" and "Generate a script like this" on any Short, same as a TikTok
One analyzed video per Short, drawn from the same allowance as your TikToks

Which plan you need

A Short counts as one analyzed video, exactly like a TikTok, so every tier covers both platforms from the same allowance. Plans differ only in how many videos you break down.

Questions

Which YouTube links work?

Any public Short, pasted as a youtube.com/shorts link, a youtube.com/watch link or a youtu.be short link. The analyzer detects the platform from the link, so the same box takes TikToks and Shorts.

Is the breakdown the same as for a TikTok?

Yes: hook type and exact wording, scene-by-scene timing, content DNA, transcript, presenter and production signals, virality factors and improvement suggestions. The one difference is in the metrics. YouTube does not publish shares or saves, so a Short shows views, likes, comments and its multiplier, but no share or save rate.

How is this different from YouTube Studio analytics?

YouTube Studio shows your own channel's numbers: viewed vs. swiped away, average percentage viewed and the retention curve. It cannot open anyone else's Short, and it does not read the video itself. FYPNow works on any public Short, yours or a competitor's, and explains the cause behind those numbers: the hook, the scene timing, the pacing and the virality factors. It cannot see another channel's private retention data, so the two work best together.

Will it tell me why my own Short went viral?

Yes. Paste it in and the analysis names the virality factors that carried it: usually the hook type and how fast it lands, the pacing of the scenes, and the point where the Short pays off. Because it reads the footage, it can quote the exact hook line and time each scene, which YouTube Studio cannot.

Can I track a YouTube channel over time?

Not yet. Creator tracking, breakout alerts and the growth scorecard are TikTok today. You can analyze any Short one link at a time, and the niche walls surface viral Shorts for you.

Does a Short cost more than a TikTok?

No. Each Short counts as one analyzed video, the same as a TikTok, from the same plan allowance.
